Add Music In Scotland News To your "My Yahoo" or "My MSN":

Did you see at the left hand margin (half way down) of the Music In Scotland News little buttons like the My Yahoo one above there are also buttons for XML Feed

Now say you wanted to keep up to date with what we write on Music In Scotland News, one of the easiest ways of doing it is to go to yahoo.com and log into your My Yahoo page. If you still don't have a My Yahoo page go to www.yahoo.com and click on the My Yahoo icon at the top of the page to set one up.  My Yahoo pages are great, in fact, I set my browser to start at my "My Yahoo" page every day to get the news that I want.

OK once you have created a My Yahoo page you need to add the RSS Headlines (Beta) module. To add the module select the "add content" link on the My Yahoo page and select the RSS Headlines (Beta) module. Once you have added the module to your My Yahoo simply come back and click on the "Add To My Yahoo" Button on the Music In Scotland News site and it will automatically add the Blog to your My Yahoo.. Next time you log into My Yahoo you will see if we have added any new posts to the Scotland Golf Breaks Blog.. Clever eh! .. saves you coming back here every time to check!

More information can be found for My Yahoo here:

http://my.yahoo.com/s/rss-faq.html

You don't have to use My Yahoo for your newsfeeds you could use a free newsreader program to read your blogs.

What is a "newsfeed reader" program?

Rather than manually checking in on each of the weblogs or news sites that you enjoy, you can instead use a newsfeed reader program that will compile all of the latest headlines and excerpts of your favorite sites that have enabled RSS - sometimes known as “Really Simple Syndication”. With a newsfeed reader you can easily and freely subscribe to content from enabled websites.

For example, say there were several cooking weblogs that interested you like the Music In Scotland News. All you do is click on one of the Syndication Buttons at the top of the page and copy the web address that comes up in your browser into your newsreader.

You would use this XML button below for a newsreader. Just right click on the button and select copy link. Then open up your newseader select add new feed and paste the link. That's it.

Now every time you fire your newsreader up it will check for updates on Music In Scotland News and list them for you.

Find a few other sites with Syndication feeds that interest you and subscribe to them as well. As often as you want, check the newsfeed reader as you would check email.

Feedreader.com - This is an excellent, very simple small and free, newsreader that you download to your own computer. Just add the feed URL address from the XML or Atom buttons on any site and it will update the new items every time you switch the newsreader on.

For example to subscribe to Music In Scotland News just add this web address to the feedreader newsreader: http://feeds.feedburner.com/MusicInScotlandNews  Every time we make a post your newsreader will pick it up and you just read the post like you would read an email..

Several free newsfeed readers are available including:
NetNewsWire Lite - for the Mac
Feed Demon - a free trial for the PC
Bloglines.com - a web-based free newsfeed reader.
