The Field of Bells draws heavily on Rory's original compositions in the traditional idiom, complete with arrangement on bass by Neil Harland and drum programming by Jim Sutherland.

Both are members of Deaf Shepherd, Rory is also a member of Old Blind Dogs and released a solo album in 1997, "Magaid A Phipir - The Piper's Whim", Malcolm is performing with Keep it Up and Boys of the Lough.
