Almanac - Jazzers & Groovers [CD]

In the spring of 1997, a group of top Glasgow based musicians came together to form a new groove based Jazz band called Almanac. Initial gigs were so successful that they signed to the OK label of KRL only a few weeks later, and their debut album was recorded in the summer. The music consists of strong tunes in an unusual variety of styles, laced with more than a hint of humour. The soloists all have a contrasting unique and individual character to their playing. Some of them can be considered as Jazzers and others Groovers, hence the title of the album.

D S Murray Quartet - Home Movies [CD]

d.s.murray quartet formed in November 1996. The project was put together by guitarist d.s. murray to perform his original compositions. The group draw on influences from Blue Note to Drum'n' bass, and use contemporary textures as a basis for improvisation.

Suntreader - The Voyage [CD]

Scottish composer Morris Pert is joined by Peter Robinson and Neville Whitehead for a great session of jazz improvisation. Recorded in the mid-70's, this is Suntreader's second album. Long believed lost, these recordings were unearthed in May 2001, re-mastered and released in September 2001.

The Clyde Valley Stompers - Scots Traditional Jazz [CD]

It seems that regardless of what sort of music people preferred, everyone loved The Clyde Valley Stompers. This CD is the only one available featuring the most famous of all Scottish Jazz Bands.
Most of the tracks were recorded live at a concert on June 30th 1956 in St Andrews Halls in Glasgow. There’s also six tracks recorded a little later in the Beltona studio. The band is led by trombonist Ian Menzies, the vocalist is the glamorous wee belter Mary McGowan.
