Winners of the "Danny Kyle Award" at Celtic Connections 1999, this young band from Edinburgh is led by two fine voices and skilful instrumentation. The band are Karine Polwart (vocals, guitar, houzouki), Steven Byrne (vocals, guitar, cittern, mandolin, bouzouki), Mark Dunlop (bodhran, whistle) and Kit Patterson (fiddle, guitar). They have a repertoire of mainly Scottish song and this excellent debut album should showcase them to a wider audience.
