Kirsty McGee

Kirsty McGee

Kirsty McGee, a Mancunian who started playing in bands when she was just 14 before switching allegiances to acoustic, lost her first solo album to record label collapse. Her 2002 debut Honeysuckle earned her a Radio 2 Folk Awards nomination as best newcomer.

Her high quality songs led to awards and her charming stage presence brought her to the attention of various festivals where her appearances led quickly to a record deal. Her musical accomplices have included Boo Hewerdine, Clive Gregson, ...and John Wood producer of many classic Folk records including Fairport Convention, .... and Nick Drake to whom Kirsty's intimate style is often compared. She's gaining fans from all over as you'll see below. Last year, at Wingfield Arts Centre, Kirsty and Mat played to a packed house including author Louis De Bernières of Captain Corelli's Mandolin fame - obviously a man with good taste!
