This CD features two full LPs from the 1950s catalogue of the Beltona Record Company. Part One of the CD contains ABL502 - 'Words and Music of Scotland' with Scots actor and orator John Laurie, best known to today's audiences for his later role as Fraser the undertaker in 'Dad's Army' - 'We're A' Doomed'. This album was a repertoire of Scots music, song and verse of the day which also included performances from Ronnie Munro's Scottish Variety Orchestra, singers Inga Marshall and Robert King and several others. Each side of the LP was a non-stop medley and therefore on this CD we have made each side a full track. Part Two of the CD contains ABL501 - 'My Song' by the fine Scots singer, Kenneth McKellar. The Scots are very particular who sings the songs of their land and clearly we approved of Kenneth as these early recordings helped begin a career which to date has exceeded five decades.1.
