Colcannon

A contemporary band from Adelaide, South Australia. Their instrumental arrangements are powerful, as they are musical, and their vocal depth is an attribute that any band would be proud to possess. The feel is slightly Celtic but the songs have a strong Australian contect, including their own compositions.

With 8 CDs to their credit (three on Greentrax), Colcannon can be heard from Germany to Japan and beyond with international touring becoming a regular occurence, performing at some of the world's most prestigious festivals such as Winnipeg and Calgary Folk Festivals in Canada, the renowned Edinburgh International Festival (usually in the 'Famous Spiegelten') and Flyde Folk Festival in England - to name but a few! Consistently in demand at Australia festivals such as Port Fairy, Woodford and the National Folk Festival in Canberra - the band brings 'joie de vivre' to every performance.

Awards have also come their way thick and fast - in 1995, 1996 and again in 2001 Colcannon received the reward for the 'Most Outstanding Contribution to Folk Music' from the South Australian Music Industry (SAMI) and in those same years the South Australian Folk Federation presented them with the 'Best Contemporary Folk Band' - quite an outstanding achievement by any standards.
