Ballochmyle Ceilidh BandThe Ballochmyle Ceilidh Band were formed around 1987. They started as four young musicians who regularily attended Mauchline accordion club. At that time the musicians were Kenny Cumming and Malcolm Rae on accordions, David Gracie on Keyboards and Andrew Murray on drums. They got together to rehearse some material which was mainly ceilidh music at that time and thought they had better come up with a name for the band. Just outside Mauchline in Ayrshire is a little place called Ballochmyle and so the name was born. The Booking seemed to snowball, the work was mainly dances and weddings which made them realise they had to broaden their variety of music and today they play anything from a Gay Gordons to Robbie Williams.
Playing in the band has taken them to many places - Britian, The Scottish Islands, Spain, Portugal, France, Tenerife and Cyprus.
Nowadays they work mainly as a two or three piece due to work commitments but are as busy as ever playing twice or three times every week. |
