Debut album from Cellist Abby Newton. Abby is a cellist of unusual versatility who is active on both the folk and classical music scenes. She performs with the Olive Trio and has been a member of several other chamber groups and orchestras. Abby enthusiastically advocates the revival of the cello in traditional Scottish music and brings the instrument back into the fold with this uplifting album, presenting the cello at the rhythmic heart of traditional Scottish tunes. Crossing To Scotland features guest musicians Alasdair Fraser (fiddle), Paul Machlis (piano), David Hornung (accordion), Kim Robertson (harp), Al Petteway (guitar) and Scott Petito (bass).
