Under the guidance of Pete Clark, improve your fiddle playing in beautiful highland Perthshire, the land of Niel Gow. Aimed at players of intermediate level and above, the class (maximum 10 places) is based at the Taybank, overlooking the River Tay and Dunkeld Bridge. Beginning at 10am on Monday 15th September, the course runs to 12.30 on Friday 19th September. Each day comprises one-hour sessions, with breaks for coffee, lunch and afternoon tea. In his teaching, Pete focuses on technique and style, drawing from the rich fiddle legacy of this unique part of Scotland. He also welcomes requests from students regarding repertoire or technique. Informal evening sessions in the bar (a highlight of the week!) will follow the daily classes, and there will also short excursions to explore the area and see some of the places which inspired the music. Getting there: Dunkeld is easy to get to by train or bus from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Accommodation: The many hotels, Guest Houses and Bed & Breakfast establishments in Dunkeld and Birnam offer a range of alternatives. Meals: The Taybank offers a great choice of home-cooked food. Alternatively there are several hotels in Dunkeld & Birnam which offer dining, and Dunkeld also has a number of cafes, a fish & chip shop and an Indian Restaurant.
